Enterprise-Grade Communications Solutions Now Available on a ...

What would businesses ideally want from their telephone systems ? any guesses? An affordable, easy-to-manage converged communications solution that provides unprecedented freedom, control, and value wouldn?t be far off the mark. The interoperability certification for Optimum (News ? Alert) Voice SIP trunking, which spans Toshiba?s full family of telephone systems including Toshiba?s IPedge and Strata CIX systems, aims to give them just what they are looking for.

But how does this happen? The certified solution combines the advantages of an IP PBX system and SIP trunking to deliver high-quality, scalable, reliable voice service, without incurring the cost of analog gateways and traditional business trunking solutions, according to officials.

?Toshiba (News ? Alert) and Optimum Business are working together to meet the voice needs of a broad range of small businesses,? said Mark Carpenter, vice president of technology and product management for Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division.

Optimum Voice SIP trunking reportedly provides VoIP access and important network-based telephony features to pre- certified IP- PBXs through converged voice and data network ? in other words, it provides quality voice service and dedicated customer support. It has also been certified for interoperability with all customer devices, as well as offers significant savings over traditional T1 solutions

Toshiba?s software-centric IPedge systems give the dual benefits of an all-IP network, combined with cost advantages of managing a single network, while its Strata CIX systems provide converged solutions to those who want a mix of ?everything IP rolled in one.? It?s also compatible with Microsoft (News ? Alert) OCS and Microsoft Exchange for integrated office solutions.

Together then, they are well positioned to deliver affordable enterprise-grade communications solutions on a cutting-edge platform, which seems to be the order of the day.

Joseph Varello, vice president of business and voice product management at Cablevision, observed that the certified solution would be a definite improvement over the traditional business trunking solutions offered by the telephone company.

Other news reports Sagemcom plans to release a new version of its popular XMediusFAX server, and has made a concerted effort to embrace SIP trunking technology and seamlessly integrate it into the latest release. The company has reached out to the biggest players in the SIP trunking market to work on interoperability and certification.

Panasonic (News ? Alert) will be exhibiting at the ITEXPO West 2012. To be held Oct. 2-5 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX, ITEXPO (News ? Alert) (News - Alert) offers an educational program to help corporate decision makers select the right IP-based voice, video, fax and unified communications solutions to improve their operations.
